How to support your transgender child (the Colin Mochrie version)

You guys remember Colin Mochrie?

Yeah, that hilarious dude from Whose Line Is It Anyway who went toe to toe with Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady. Good times.

Anyways. He's made the news for clapping back at trolls who insulted his transgender daughter. First, he posted this pic on Facebook and wished her a happy 28th birthday:

And then of course, with this being the internet, it didn't take long for the trolls to come out from under their bridge making hateful comments.

They've since been deleted, but Mr. Mochrie addressed them in one statement on his Facebook account last week:

"Thanks to the fans of this page for being supportive and human. To the trolls, my thoughts and prayers to your body for losing it's mind and soul so tragically." (Colin Mochrie/Facebook)

His response has over 7,000 reactions and is filled with messages of love and support of people from the trans and LGBTQ+ community.

In a world where the noise of hate and judgment always finds a way to rise to the top, this is an important public example of someone who refuses to accept it.

These are the voices we need to hear more from.
